This month we have been in the Gospel of John, and this Sunday in John 20 – one of the richest passages in the Gospels.
I intend to close with a quote from Jean Vanier. It goes like this –
The mission of a community is to give life to others,
that is to say, to transmit new hope and new meaning to them.
Mission is revealing to others their fundamental beauty,
value and importance in the universe, their capacity to love,
to grow and to meet God.
Mission is transmitting to people a new inner freedom and hope;
it is unlocking the doors of their being so that new energy can flow;
it is taking away from their shoulders the terrible yoke of guilt and fear.
To give life to people is to reveal
that the stone in front of their tomb
in which all the dirt of their lives has been hidden
can be rolled away.
They are forgiven; they can live in freedom.

On May 1st we spent the day at the park in Shipyard, where we had our Church & School picnic. Students who attended Steinreich Bible School in Mexico presented a program for our morning service, then our school teachers presented awards to their students. After that we enjoyed good food and fellowship for the rest of the day. Some colony youth came to celebrate with us, and folks passing by had the privilege of seeing a group of believers fellowshipping together. Click here to see pictures.
Services in Shipyard #3
We just finished our fourth night of evening services here in Shipyard. about 120 people attended, with about 20 being Old Colony. I found out after the service that some had parked under the trees in the shade, and some parked beside the road where they could still hear the message.
We are very grateful for those who are attending, and realize that those who stay back in the shade or beside the road are also hearing God’s Word preached.
Please continue to pray as we finish with these services tomorrow night, and then switch over to the leadership and Bible study method classes.
THanks again for your continual prayer support,
Henry & Tina
Services in Shipyard, #2
Greeting to you all,
First off I again want to thank you all for praying for the ministry in Shipyard; and specifically for the evening services that are underway right now. We just finished the second out of five evening services. So far the attendance is relatively low, but we are praying and trusting that God is bringing the people whom He has prepared. Sunday morning a man from the colony came to church and made a decision to follow Christ, and has brought his family to both of the evening services. I have personally talked to couple of others who have rededicated their lives to Christ, and we praise God for that.
Some of you have asked about the man who accepted the Lord a couple of weeks ago, and I am sad to say that he is avoiding me right now. Please continue to pray for him. I know that he is facing a lot of pressure from family members.
Please continue to pray for the services this week. We have just gotten started and know of a few who have made decisions for Christ, but we don’t know how many are battling with the decision right now. Further, there are some whom I heard of that would like to come to the services, but for fear of their neighbors are staying home. Please pray for them as well.
Blessings,
Henry & Tina
Services in Shipyard #1
Greetings to you all,
Again I want to thank you all for your diligent and constant prayer for the ministry and people of Shipyard. Over the past while we have seen people become more acceptant in the community, and we are anticipating that that will continue. As you have already been informed, Evangelist Diedrich Harms is coming to Shipyard for one week of evening services, and one week of teaching. If you are in the area and would like to come, you are very welcome to do so.
But whether you come or not, we invite you to join us in praying specifically for the ministry planned for the the next two weeks. Diedrich arrives in Shipyard tomorrow evening (May 20), and evening services are planned for the 22-26, and teaching classes are the 27, and 30 – June 2.
Please pray for:
- Diedrich as he prepares, travels and preaches/teaches
- for us as church to assist in any way, and be able to follow up after the services
- for the people in the colony, to open up to the Gospel
- that the Holy Spirit would penetrate hearts in this community
- that the power of fear would be broken and that people would be able to accept the love and forgives of Jesus Christ
Thank you for you partnership in the ministry of prayer. Please don’t underestimate your involvement. Prayer is a vital to the ministry of reaching people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Blessings,
Henry & Tina Redekopp
