Saturday evening my husband and I had a wonderful opportunity to hear about the new ministries happening in Bolivia. We were also treated to some special music from Third Pew (Blumenort, MB). Simon and Edith Peters shared about their vision for the new counseling ministry. A rehab center is being started near Pailon as well as a counseling center in Santa Cruz. There is also opportunity to mentor and counsel in the community of Villa Neuva, where they are living. Bill and Martha Kehler shared about the San Jose outreach ministry. There are about 6,000 Mennonites in the colonies surrounding the San Jose community. In April 2012 a work team from Canada went to help build the ministry center.
Having spent three years teaching in Bolivia I understand some of the challenges in their ministry but also the blessings. It is exciting to see the growth in the ministry, sharing the Good News of salvation, Christian education in various forms, a young church reaching out to those in San Jose, and Christian counseling to help with some of the baggage of the past. Pray for the workers in Bolivia, and send them encouragement at mem@gomission.ca.
The man of ‘Zachries fetalt’ Low German program passes away

It is with a heavy heart that I share this information with you. Many of you know Carl Zacharias as the radio voice and passion of the Low German program “Zachries fetalt”. Our much-loved friend passed away on April 26, 2012.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Winkler EMM Church, 600 Southview Drive in Winkler Manitoba at 2pm. A private family burial will take place sometime over the weekend.
Friends may visit Wiebe’s Funeral Home in Winkler and pay their respects on Saturday, April 28 from 1pm to 9pm.
When I think of Carl, these images and memories are the ones that stick in my mind. The guy who loved people. The guy who enjoyed laughing. Carl the amazing story teller. Passionate about his Low German ministry and the many, many friends he made over the thousands of kilometers that he traveled. But most of all, he loved God.
Many people have heard about the love of God because ‘ Zachries fetalt’.
Well done, my good and faithful servant.
