Gathering reflections

It’s Monday morning, and Gathering 2011 here in Blue Creek is officially over. Some people have made their way back to their homes while others are staying to take in the various tours and opportunities offered here in Belize.

This morning, the two huge tents used for meals and the larger services, came down at the church yard. Over 450 people enjoyed their lunch under the tent on Saturday afternoon. Sharing meals together gave us wonderful opportunities to share our individual stories of who we are, what God has done and IS doing in our lives, and build friendships that span country and continent.

Once more, it was evident that belonging to the body of Christ makes a difference. Coming together from five countries and many more cultural and background experiences, Gathering became a place where those differences became part of a beautiful picture.

Singing together and being under the teaching and preaching of the speakers was an encouragement and blessing.

The audio of the main sessions will be available on this site in a few days.

Pastor Hein Thiessen of Durango MX preached the German message Sunday morning.

Anne Giesbrecht of Winkler MB acknowledging her time in Belize over the years. She and husband Pete (since passed away) have lived in Belize at various times, teaching and ministering.

Tents with the striped roof was where meals were hosted. Arrangements through the Coca Cola company: use Coke products during your event, no charge for using the tent. Pretty good deal!

Tent top is down. Now it's time to pack it up.

Banner at the base of the church driveway, welcoming everyone to Gathering!

Workshops were held in the junior high school. We were told "there are 41 steps going to the lower level". They never told us how many steps there were coming back up!!

My new friends, Jacob and Peter.

Scooters and motor bikes -- popular mode of transportation.

ahhhh!

Belize – pictures, videos and sermons.

God often told the Israelites to pile up a pile of rocks or some other visual to help them remember a special event.  Through pictures and other things we too can remember the way he moved among us over the past days.

The sermons will be available on video and audio in a few short days.

We also have a wonderful collection of amazing photo’s that will be posted.  So, thanks for checking in already.  Give us a few days to compile and then we will reward you with some amazing memories.

If you have not submitted your photo’s or can help with some of this I would love to hear from you.  Email me at [email protected].

With a heart of gratitude to God and lots of thanks to the people of Belize for a wonderful, “amazing God” weekend.
